Development Education Centre (DEC) Enugu organised a- one month training Programme on Skills acquisition and entrepreneurial programme for un Skilled young mothers from Five (5)autonomous communities in Isikwuato LGA partneering with DEC Enugu.
They are; Eluama, Umunnekwu, Mgbelu & Agbo, Obiagu & Umuanyi Communities. The venue for the training workshop was UTURU Community.
40 young mothers participated fully during this Training workshop.
The skills taught include Cosmetology, production of soap ,pomade, cream, detergents, liquid soap bleach, car wash etc. On Bakery and Confectioneries, skills taught include: Cakes, Buns, chin chin, Samosa, small chops, meat/fish pie, Zobo drinks,etc. On Leather works, participants were taught on how to make male and female slippers, school bags, women and girls fashion bags, leather belts and survenir bags.
The traditionsl ruler of the Host community - Uturu , EZE UDE in his closing speech at the end of the exercise was highly appreciative and extended his gratitude to Development Education Centre (DEC) Enugu and the Executive Director for partnering with his community in other women empowerment and development Interventions in his community in particular and Isikwuato LGA of Abia State in general by DEC ENUGU.
