CASE STORY: WHAT I DREAMT OF HAS COME TO PASS

My name is Victory Onyekachi, I am from Ihube in Okigwe L.G.A Imo State. I was born on 27th November, 2000 in the family of Mr and Mrs Gideon Onyekachi. I am the 1st child in the family of 4 (2 girls and 2 boys). I finished my secondary School in the year 2020. After my secondary School I didn’t further my education in the University because my mother is the only one taking care of our education and my dad does not care about our education. So, I decided to find a place where I engaged in sales girl service for 3 months. After that, an opportunity came through DEC Enugu in my village when they were making investigation about girls to be trained on different skills.
My journey at DEC Enugu started on January, 2021. When I was selected and later invited for an orientation at DEC Headquarters, Enugu, I was among the lucky ones. DEC Enugu offered me an opportunity to be trained in leather work (shoe and bag making). When I started the training, it was so hard for me both in feeding and during practical sessions in the class, all thanks to God Almighty who made it possible for me.
I was the best graduate in my set, I wrote my exams and also did practical, and by the grace of God I did well and DEC Enugu rewarded me with equipment to start up my own shop.
I am so happy for this great opportunity from DEC Enugu. Now, people in my village are all surprised seeing a girl making shoes and bags, all thanks to DEC Enugu. I am now a manager of my own business today.
