CASE STORY: THROUGH THE HELP OF DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION CENTRE (DEC) ENUGU, I AM BEING RESSURECTED
My name is Mr. Sunday Omede from Obeya Ogbogbo Community in Igalamela/Odolu LGA of Kogi State and I am 55 years old.
For over four (4) years ago, that is since 2018, I had been having health challenges and I have been taking treatment mostly the ones I could afford but all in vain. Complicating the whole situation, my son was also having a fracture in one of his legs which I normally call “bad bone leg” and that made me to spend all my money before my own ailment came. As at that time, I was “koboless” that is to say, I had no money on me to survive with let alone going to the hospital for proper treatment of my sickness, I was only getting little help from my church members.
So, when I was almost at the point of death, God used “Development Education Centre, Enugu” to intervene in my situation. The intervention came when DEC Enugu visited our community with her medical team through medical clinic on 14th January 2022. Though DEC has been partnering with my community since the year 2020 in the area of women empowerment programs which includes access to quality health care services.
How did I get the information that DEC is coming? Well, it all happened one evening when our community town crier was announcing the coming of DEC Mobile Clinic to our community, Ogbogbo. I then told myself that I must go. When I got there, I met the DEC medical doctor, I explained my health challenge to him and he physically examined me and discovered that I was having high fever, shortage of blood including abdominal pains I was also having at that time, he then recommended some test I needed to do.
So, after I was being diagnosed, it was discovered that I had HERNIA. Then, DEC Enugu gave me some medicine to use and when I used the medicine, the hernia came out very well and that made me to be very worried. I had to disturb and beg DEC for more help. On 2nd March, 2022, DEC came again, they tested and treated me of hepatitis just so I will be fine. After sometime, my ailment kept disturbing me and I had no other choice but to keep praying and disturbing DEC any time they came for mobile clinic.
My first son who is supposed to help me for this problem is the one having bad born legs. The three others are girls of which they were trained by my brothers and in-law. It was one faithful day, Mr. Francis M. Uhiene (The DEC Community Development Officer for Igalamela/Odolu LGA) delivered the message that DEC Enugu will be coming the next day. I went there and thanks to God that they referred me to our specialist hospital Idah for hernia surgery. The operation was successfully done and I was placed on drugs for some days. By God’s grace, I am attesting that on this day being 7th April 2022 that I am now fine.
Finally, I want to use this medium to thank the Executive Director and all the staff of DEC Enugu for the great work they have done for me and the entire Ogbogbo community. I say more power to your elbow and may God reward all of you at DEC Enugu abundantly.
Sky is your limit.
Thanks, and best regards!
Mr. Sunday Omede
